We raise a variety of turkeys on pasture for the holiday season. They are raised by hand from chicks and live their whole lives in an apple orchard, foraging and eating apples with grain snacks. We raise a limited amount, and are in high demand.

*a note on price- this year grain went up about 30% from January until now, which is about another 30% more than a year ago. That, combined with the costs of goods for everything else involved in raising these birds (very hands-on with my very own hands!)- infrastructure; supplies; fair wage; has equaled to the birds being $14/lb. Us small farmers aren't making a fast buck- we're just trying to keep our farms and ranches going. So, thank you to everyone who supports us and supports small, local, family farms*
**but for those of you last-minute deciders, you lucky ducks-they are now $12 per pound**

Turkeys will be available the week before Thanksgiving for pick up at the Farmer’s Market
(Temescal- Sunday), or can picked up at the farm on Saturday before Thanksgiving. We harvested them the last week of October, so they will be frozen. This does not in any way affect their flavor or texture.

Industrial Ag. has a lot of pretty sounding labels that don't really mean a good natural life for those animals. Talk to the farmers at your local farmer's market about their practices. Not all meat, eggs, and dairy are raised the same...*

This is what a 9lb turkey looks like. The general rule of thumb is, a pound of bird per person. Depending on how polite or not your guests are, I have found that is plenty of turkey per eater.
